Windows 10: Headphones plugged in but audio coming from speakers

Hi,

this problem has been annoying me for days so I thought I'd post here. A few months ago I got wireless earbuds. I ended up returning them and after that the problems started. When I plugged in my headphones the audio was playing out loud. I disabled bluetooth and it worked again. Literally the day after it stopped working. I've tried everything. I have updated my drivers, made sure my headphones are plugged in, tried 10 different kinds, and it is a problem with my laptop, not the headphones. I checked on that already. Can someone please help me!?

Speakers playing when headphones are plugged in

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.

 

Laptop speakers and plugged in headphone audio plays at the same time

Just downloaded the most recent Windows 10 update. But now, even when my headphones are plugged in, I get audio from both the headphone and the internal speakers. Instead of a separate "speaker" and "headphone" sections in the sounds menu, it's listed
as "Speaker/Headphone." Surely, this is not a feature people wanted. There is no problem when using Bluetooth headphones, just the audio jack.

 

Headphones plugged in, but game audio coming through speakers.

I plug in headphones and I can listen to music or youtube through the headphones, but when I try and play a game, the audio plays through my laptop speakers.

Is there any way to fix this and have everything playing in my headphones?
