Windows 10: Headset Mic Detected but will not pick up audio

I bought the CM MH751 headset and plugged it in as normal using the cable splitter so that the headset and mic are in their correct jacks. The audio to the headset is working correct and the mic is detected but it will not take audio input.

I have done troubleshooting for hours including uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek Audio Manager. Originally when I plugged in the mic and headset, a pop up would appear in the bottom right asking what I had just plugged in. I was also able to search and open the Realtek Audio Manager. However after reinstalling it there are no pop ups and I cannot search for and open the audio manager.

I am not sure what the issue is. My motherboard is a Gigabyte b450m ds3h if that helps. I’m desperate and would appreciate any advice.

Laptop won't detect built-in mic on headsets/earbuds

I'm running Windows 10 home on a Lenovo Ideapad laptop, and it doesn't detect the mic on any of my headsets/earbuds. I can hear playback fine on my headsets/earbuds, but it can't speak through them, since it insists on using the laptop's internal mic. This results in my typing/mouse clicks all being captured on audio.

• In sound properties recording tab, I just see "microphone (Realtek high def audio)" and "stereo mix (Realtek high def audio)"
  
• In sound properties playback tab, I just see "speakers (Realtek high def audio)", yet I hear audio fine on my headsets/earbuds?
  
• In device manager, it doesn't detect a headset either, displays the same list as the recording tab

So do all 3 of my headsets/earbuds have some kind of "plug and play but stays invisible to the OS" feature? One of them is the default Apple earbuds, I'm 100% sure there's a mic on there and these are brand new, so they aren't broken. Are these not supposed to appear as a "headset" device with the headset icon in sound properties?

 

Headset mic not picking up sound.

I recently got a new A10 headset so I could talk to my friends online. When I try and use programs such as skype or discord, they can not detect any audio input. I've tested the mic on my phone and it records audio fine so I'm assuming its a problem with
my laptop. I've checked the recording devices and there is one that appears and disappears when i connect and disconnect the headset but also states that its not picking up any audio. I'm not sure how to fix the problem so any help would be appreciated

Either they are playing around with you or you have a chat running, with the MIC allowing everything, no matter what. Suggest unhooking your headset when not using.
