Windows 10: HELP - Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)

Hello everyone, i;m turning to Reddit because nothing else seems to work. I recently built a new PC and installed Windows 10 (using the Windows 10 tool from Microsoft) then I got a license from work.

After about 3 weeks of use i realized that a bunch of programs (cmd, shell, python, Logitech Options) installed on the PC wont start becasue of the following Error:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)

I tried half of the solutions i found online but they did not work. The other half requires cmd to be running and i cant open it so I dont really know what to do. (Could it be that I got a bad license? I know it doesnt make much sense but the license is the only thing that I didnt get from an official store but from the service desk guys at the office)

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening, and how to fix it ??

Have you tried Office Repair?

First the Quick, then Online if needed.

He already did that. The list of what the OP tried is long and it includes pretty much everything I'm aware of *Sad

How about temporary disable AV and any antiransomware product, and run Office repair again?

Edit: just now have i finished reading the part of the post describing how you deleted Windows.old.
This could be related. Normally, Windows doesn't need that old installation, but in some cases, some files could be needed..


Try with Repair install of the Windows.

this dialogue box pops up in windows 10 every times it boots up.

whats the permanent solution to this issue.
