Windows 10: Help Creating "Drag & Drop" .bat file to Append File Names

I have been attempting to come up with a way to be able to drag and drop a file to append 3 letters to it. The issue is that the extent of my programming knowledge lies in VBA and not much else. While I could probably make it work in VBA, I'd prefer to not require the application to be open when it's needed - which leads me to the usage of a .bat file. The following are examples of what I was thinking of before and after file names. It would need to append ABC after the file name, but prior to the file extension. test1.pdf ---> test1 ABC.pdf test2 - substr.pdf ---> test2 - substr ABC.pdf 6.9.21 test3.pdf ---> 6.9.21 test3 ABC.pdf This will be on my office PC, so my PC specs may be different than what's in my bio, although I have a feeling it wouldn't have made much of a difference either way. BAT file/Script to find and replace files

Hey all....

Can someone help me make the BAT script in the 2nd post above to be able to use MORE than "1" file?
As it currently is, you can only replace one particular file.

For example, I want in the command line to be able to write two files or more, and the script will find and replace all those 2 or more named files.
Thanks much.

P.S.... Is there a GUI that does file searching and replacing?
I've spent hours searching on the net, and the only thing I can find are "text" search/replace and this BAT command, not actual "file" replacing. I find this amazing. *Frown

 

Drag and Drop

Hi Charles,

the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.
