You can try going to the manufacturer's website for the network adapter card/chip in your computer and install the latest driver they have, regardless of if it is older or for Windows 7/8/8.1.

Check your router's settings. With many routes you can manually select the operating mode of the lan ports (100 MB/s or Gigabit lan). Sometimes it's called power saving mode.

HELP!!! Lan gigabit alwasy detect 100mbps

Hate to put a downer in here,
but the 100mb speed shown in OP post is what his ISP is supplying,
Its got nothing to do with the fact he's Gig capable,
Guess what mine is see screenshot

  5. Sorry Roy, that is his lan speed not his DSL speed.

    Here's mine and yours, compare.

You would be mistaken. What you are showing in your screenshot is your WiFi connection to your router and has nothing to do with what your ISP is providing (except that your internet connection will be limited by the WiFi speed if your ISP is pushing a higher speed.)

If you want to know what your ISP is providing, you need to use a speed test like Flash Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test

This is my connection between my computer and router:

This is the speed my ISP is providing:

  7. The fact he is getting straight 100 to me seems like his ISP is providing more, but some device or cable along the way is keeping it lower. I agree with whoever said it earlier, you need to update the LAN driver. Never use the old DVD drivers, go online to your motherboard's website to download the newest Windows 10 drivers. Good news is usually older OS LAN drivers work across OSes, just not across bitness (so you could potentially use Win 7 or 8 drivers, even Vista perhaps; just have to make sure it is 32 or 64bit to match your OS).

If it has the Win10 driver, use it. If not, use the Newest OS it does have. You might want to disable automatic device installation (in case Windows decides to mess with it after you update), but that is your decision.

*EDIT Wow, Navy said it first, guess I shouldn't skim through those posts

NavyLCDR speedtest.com will not show what you are getting from the ISP. ShaperProbe and Glasnost are just two of the tools used to give you your real speed that the ISP is supposed to have you set for.

The problem with speedtests. Is that the information can be skewed and is always never accurate.

    I probably badly worded that,
I should have said that the figures shown are not the maximum capable, they are what the device is currently receiving
It does not matter if its Ethernet or Wifi
IE if my ISP decided to upgrade my internet which they have just done >>>then that figure will change<<<,
    EH Voila mine just has.
They could bump it up to 300 thats the max for my device.

Your statement is only true when your computer is connected directly to a signal provided by the ISP. In most households in the US, and in the OP's situation, this is not applicable. The OP has a combination modem/router: Huawei HG8245. The ISP controls the speed at which the modem connects to the internet, but does not control the speed at which the computers connect to the LAN ports. The modem portion of the unit hands the internet traffic over to the router portion which is advertised to be a Gigabit router. This is so that computers can talk to each other at Gigabit speeds - and if the ISP provides a lower bandwidth to the modem, then then internet traffic will simply consume only a fraction of the bandwidth of the router.

The OP's connection is showing the speed of the connection between the computer and the router which is 100% independent of the speed at which the modem connects to the internet.

Try these drivers, for Intel drivers, better get the drivers from Intel than the motherboard manufacturer:

Download Network Adapter Driver for Windows 8*

It could be the cable. I'm using Belden MediaTwist CAT6+ crescent shaped cable with standard 50 micron gold plated connectors as I bought all of this back in 1999.

Intel states on their website that it is better to get the driver from the manufacturer rather than Intel... contrary to what you said. They only provide the drivers when the manufacturer stops updating theirs with new OSes, or when there are problems with the manufacturer's driver.

That's what Intel has always said but when it comes to Intel drivers, I've been using them for the last 14 years, the manufacturer will stop updating other than putting a initial driver which usually is very old as it's never updated. Ofcourse originally, I had Intel PCI NIC cards before it become integrated into the motherboard. I don't remember if ProSet comes with the OEM drivers or not.
