Windows 10: Help! Login has disappeared when I boot

Do I have to use a memory stick or can I use my DVD that I created with MediaCreationTool.
My problem is that although I have a flash drive this Windows 7 PC is not recognising it within MediaCreationTool (even though I can copy files off it)...

To get clear if I had clicked "Install now" would it actually have FORMATTED the (corrupted) SSD's file structure?

 

Ether one should work, you get the same menus. Some thumb drives (Sandisk for one) show up as fixed disks instead of removable media. The MCT will not use ones that show up as fixed disks. It rejects them. That may be your issue. You can still use them, just not with the MCT. Set them up with diskpart and they will work.

Have a good look at this, Clean Install Windows 10 If you follow it along you'll see where you can select the custom option. There you can delete and or format partitions.

 

OK I hit "Install Now" and now I have a choice of Upgrade or Custom: Install windows only
Which do i want - and how do I format the drive to remove any corruption?

 

Read the tutorial I have linked to twice. All the steps are documented.

 

You need to follow the tut. Eventually you'll get to this screen where you can delete/format the partition(s). Where is your data stored?????

 

Sorry to be thick but now it's asking "Where do you want to install windows" but it can't see any drives. And it can't find what it needs on my Windows DVD.

The Hard Drive is something I installed: 512GB mSATA Samsung (PM841 Series MZMTD512HAGL-00000 mSATA 512GB SATA III MLC Internal SSD). (it originally WAS: 128GB Solid-state Drive).

It says "No dsigned device drivers were found." Will it need a special device driver for my SSD?

You got nothing that looked like this?

 

Is your external USB DVD drive plugged into a USB 3 Port? Google hints that that can be an issue. Corrupted install media can cause it too apparently.

 

Alpha is right on with the port. It is recommended to use USB 2.0 for bootables. It may be barking because it doesn't know how to deal with SATA III. It's looking for something more dirt-dumb at that level. Might be the cause of it asking for that driver.
