Windows 10: ** Help ** Unable to create account on install of Windows 10 10041

I was a bit quick on the question Kari, i went past that part but couldn't replicate a message referencing school but then realised the enterprise copy i have downloaded is 9926 and not the latest so didn't do much more testing at that point.

 

I choose Home Network. The other machine that I am on now is running 10041 Enterprise and I was able to install and select/create a local account with NO problems. Like I stated previously, at the screen where it asks to create an account I can mute the sound remove and put in a USB drive and it shows on the screen. I just can't get by this stupid account issue. I am converting a video to upload to YouTube and will share the link when it's complete later.

I have attempted several to no avail.

 

Did the Windows Pro version give you errors installing too?

 

Yes it did. I did have the choice of selecting "I am the owner" but then it asked to create a user then it got the same error.

 

Strange, try downloading the ISO again

Edit- Looks like only the pro version has a 10041 ISO available right now

I'll try that and report outcome in a bit. Depends on download time.

Download is a little slow but half way complete.

 

I get the same damned error message 'Something went wrong' after signing in with Microsoft Account and then at the account creation screen.

I'm befuddled...

 

You could try formatting your drive as one partition (clutching at straws). During install when you get to the Where do you want to install Windows screen press Shift + F10 and enter the following commands in bold (pressing enter after each one) in the command prompt window that appears.

diskpart
select disk 0
clean
convert mbr
create partition primary
select partition 1
format quick fs=ntfs label="Windows"
assign letter=C
active
exit
quit

Then just click on next and carry on (I'm assuming your laptop is bios not eufi).

 

I had the same problem, and was going to give up when just tried one more time...

Username - anything
Password - anything
Hint - I typed "BBBB" and hit return expecting the "Something went wrong" error again and it accepted it !

Need to retry it to see if it wasn't just a fluke, but maybe something to do with case-sensitive characters?

The password hint cannot be the password itself or something very similar, nor can it be same as the username. It has to be unique. I always use the simple Yes!​ as a hint.

 

This didn't work either. :-(

 

I have no idea what is going on with your system. Try installing another older OS W7 or W8. and going at it again.
