  1. Help Unscuttle My System From KB4598242

Hi there folks. long story short I went to sleep last night noticing that the Windows update was ready to run in my computer was functioning (mostly) exactly how it should. No micro stuttering, Windows desktop was working, heck Windows was working period, my CPU usage was between 5% and 20%, only really issue was the taskbar was still resisting staying on the proper screen but that's not a big issue. I had foolishly left Update on Auto, and that's the start of my issues.

When I wake up in the middle of the night due my insomnia, and go to log back into my machine, I noticed immediately that the system was slow. I am not met with any error codes, however. The task bar and the desktop both refused to display correctly upon initial installation, at first just really zoomed out (Windows 10 likes to implement custom scaling factors on me during certain updates) but presently just being nearing completely unresponsive. The task bar itself fails to display properly on the vast majority of my monitors, and when it does behave I get four different times on the different screens, none of which are accurate. My CPU has gone from idling between 5% and 20% to idling over 30% and start-up has not only grown by a full minute, but the post startup processes went from taking about three to four minutes to taking a half hour plus. The mouse is also ridiculously stuttery, it's not unresponsive but it does work on a multiple second delay.

My system is a relatively high-end gaming desktop. It was behaving perfectly fine for the past few days. The only change I could think of beyond this update that would have even remotely introduced this was when I had to mess with the dynamic tick settings on Windows 10 due to micro stuttering issues, as Windows 10 default settings are not designed for high-end machines, but some middle ground between a good laptop and a bad desktop. Issue with that theory, however, is that I have both shut down & restarted my computer multiple times since altering that setting, and did not experience any issues until the Windows update.

Rolling back the update has not resolved this issue. My current operating theory is that the most recent security update did not take into account higher end machines and steps that might have been taken to ensure system stability. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a system clock issue, based on the symptoms. But it also feels like Windows might have been corrupted, I don't know? Basically, any help or information that can be provided to help me get this thing up and running would be appreciated. I don't want to bring this thing back to a repair shop and not see it for another month plus again (unrelated issue, they just took FOREVER).

    help to choose power supply

It all depends on the rest of your systems. List system specs, although eidairaman's suggestion will work too.
