Windows 10: Help with an "identity alert" = program used is not available in UK

Sorry for the rather confusing thread title, but I wasn't sure how else to describe it within the limited character length.

I also wasn't sure where I should ask about this question, because it's not really to do with Windows Anti-Virus software - but McAfee (but still on a Windows computer).

I am asking here in case there's a way to find out if there is other software (or a way of finding out) to say if it's a genuine threat, or a false positive (or something else) - and how to deal with it. But anyway, to explain it.


I've been using McAfee LiveSafe Total Protection, and I've had an e-mail come through saying this:

-which is from <[email protected]>

Unfortunately, the 'McAfee Identity Theft Protection' which alerted me to this *isn't* available outside the United States (under 'Subscription & Setup'), and I live in the UK.

Is this e-mail something I should be concerned about, and how would I resolve this issue - seeing as I don't live in the US?

Emergency Alerts

Just to confirm, is this the same thing that you tried on your phone, in order to turn off Amber Alerts?

• Open Settings.
• Tap on System.
• Tap on Messaging.
• Tap on the Change emergency alert settings link.
• Turn on or off the emergency alerts you want.

Let us know if this was the same thing that you tried.

We would also suggest to reset your phone after doing these steps to ensure that the changes on your phone's settings will be refreshed.

Simply press and hold the Power and Volume down button for 15 seconds and then release your hold afterwards.

• Type wsreset.exe, and then hit Enter.
• Launch Windows Store and check if there are available updates and install them.
