  1. Help with Disk Management - unused healthy primary partition

    Hello,

My laptop was running slow still a little slow, in following various recommendations I ended up deleting a ton of stuff to recover space, and I saw my drive set up in Disk Management. I see that I have one Disk 0 and 4 partitions. I also have a D drive that is empty and unused. How do I join the D drive to C. I cannot seem to extend C as there is "recovery partition" between them.

My C drive has ok memory now because of everything I deleted, but I need to reinstall apps and software which will bring me to the limit again. I would really like to make use of the Healthy D drive and just add/merge it to my C drive to have plenty of space :-

    Any help is much appreciated.

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

  3. active primary disk

Hello, So i was trying to create a recovery drive on my SSd card, because my 2 usb 's are used for a mouse and history file. Turning on my history file it had a message saying "You're not to have a system file on a removable drive."
I went into disk management I seen my ssd card has primary , healthy and has active next to it.. like this:

Disk 0 = EFI Healthy -100 MB / Local (C: ) 25.24 GB NTFS (Boot , wim Boot, crash dump, primary partition ) New Volume (E: ) 2.57 GB NTFS Primary Partition / Recovery 1000 MB Healthy ( OEM partition......

    Disk 1 = FAT 32 (7.42 GB) Healthy ( Primary Partition Active)

Disk 2- FAT 32 (14.72 GB) USB DISK Healthy ( Primary Partition)

I don't think this is at all correct.. I don't know how to make DISK 0 active again I think that is the one that should be active. The instructions were to make the SSD card act and be recognized as a USB device.. I lost 2 computers even after making
a recovery disk, apparently i still don't know how.. Can you help and tell me how make Active the Drive that should be ACTIVE... Cannot tell you how much I appreciate for all your time & patience,,,

  4. Help with Disk Management - unused healthy primary partition

Disk management console view is not up-to-date

i dont know how to fix your disk management, but i can fix your partition problems...

open up Command Prompt with admin rights. (Right click, run as admin)

    enter in
    DISKPART
    list disk

then find the Disk number for your Raid array... lets call it number 7 ( you can tell what disk is what by the total size)
    type in

    Select Disk 7
List Partition (will give you a list of all the partitions..)
Select Partition 1 (im assuming you only have 1 partition on Disk 7) repeat this step if you have more partitions.
    ASSIGN

that should get the array up and running ready to use.

    EDITED.

    any problems, post back ^^
