Windows 10: Help with dual boot

Hey everyone, I currently have a hard drive with Windows 10 installed on it, and I want to dual boot it with an older version like Windows 7 or XP. (Just for nostalgia)
Microsoft said to install the older one first or my computer would be screwed, but the newer one is already installed. Any help? Plus this is my first time on the Ten Forums. ))

I would like to inform you that, it is possible to install Windows 10, only if Windows XP is preinstalled on the computer. If
you are trying to install Windows XP just to run a particular software, I suggest you to run the program in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

I suggest you to run the program in Compatibility mode, please follow the below steps:

1) Right click on the Program

2) Click on Properties

3) Click on Compatibility tab

4) Select Run this program in compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.

Help on Dual Boot

Thnx Mr Krishna fir the update. I get your point on installing W10 if XP is pre-installed. But in my case it is the other way round. My laptop is already upgraded frm W7 to W10. Now if i hv to install XP along with W10, are they any challenges i would face
??? I understand your point of running XP in compatible mode but technically is it possible for me to install XP also ??? Are there any challenges bcoz a fren of mine who is a network engineer & as a proffesion he also installs various SW to his clients. I
was told by him that it is not possible to install XP at all in any system which is already running W10... Kindly help if there is any possibilty ???

You can always run the older OS in a VM environment. That way you don't have to re-install 10 to get the OS order correct.

 

Just create an empty partition formatted NTFS for Windows 7 and install to it. It will set up dual booting on it's own just fine. But you have to have a separate license for the Windows 7 - not the one that you used to upgrade to Windows 10 with (or a separate license for the Windows 10). Otherwise you will be violating the EULA (End Users License Agreement).
