  1. Help with likely Search/Indexing issues

Hi! Firstly, thanks for reading and giving me your time!

I ran into the issues around late November (and I've been in a cycle of procrastinating and forgetting to make this post since), seemingly after my computer restarted incorrectly and I was hit with a blue screen, after which it started again normally. However, I didn't notice the issues until the next day so I'm not sure if it's causation.

The issues I've noticed are as follows:

    • I'm unable to type in various Windows processes, including task bar search as well as the top-right search bar in File Explorer (although I can still type in the large bar at the top of the screen to access different folders), as well as in the entry form for a username and password to create a new account on the computer (which I attempted to do in order to see if my user profile was corrupted).
    • I noticed certain applications stopped working. WinRAR immediately stopped doing anything upon noticing these changes. On top of this, though it did not occur immediately, the Discord app has also completely stopped working on my computer (seemingly an issue with update.exe, which has caused an inability to open, uninstall, or reinstall discord and comes up with an error message when attempting to do so)
    • I've also gotten a few error messages for ctfmon.exe intermittently (Exception Processing Message 0xc0000006 - Unexpected parameters)
    • More generally, my computer's performance has seemed to gotten worse

I know some of these, namely the search bar issues, are pretty common and I've looked through some things online in the hopes of fixing it, such as troubleshooter and some PowerShell commands but so far it's been without promise. Does anybody have any ideas how to proceed?

Also, here's the specifications I think might be helpful for Windows things:

    Device: Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH

    Version: 20H2

    Installed on: ‎2020-‎10-‎12

    OS build: 19042.685

Thanks again, even if you don't have any ideas I appreciate you taking the time to read and consider! Also, please let me know if there's any more information I could provide that would help!
