    Thank you. I have run the troubleshooter. It has the following results:

    Can't connect to the sync service

    Rootcauses found and created logs

    I can't see why it can't connect to the sync service. I don't know where the created logs are.

    Unfortunately I still can't run the calculator.

    Any further thoughts gratefully received.

    Thank you, system is fully up to date (except for apps which fail to update). Here goes:

    1. Added a new local account, deleted Microsoft account from users, added Microsoft account back - works for a short time only

    2. sfc scannow and variants described on this site - does nothing

    3. App troubleshooter - finds nothing wrong

    4. O/S repair - no difference

    5. Full clean wipe machine install from scratch (now done this 3 times since getting Windows 10) - works for a short time and then the problem returns

    6. net stop wuauserv

    rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

    net start wuauserv - does nothing

    7. MSConfig based selective disabling of startups - this is time consuming and makes no difference at all

    8. WSReset,exe - does nothing

    9. Adding folders called "C:\Windows\AppReadiness" and "C:\Windows\AUInstallAgent" - does nothing

    10. Taking ownership of ProgramData\AppRepository and giving full access to SYSTEM and ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES - makes no difference

    Can you watch videos in your browser? It might just be an out of date app on your machine that was carried over in the upgrade.

    There are some comments on the Netflix app saying they had issues after upgrading to Win10, others say it works great.

    Try updating the app(s) - you might have to uninstall / reinstall the app(s) if a simple reinstall doesn't help.

    Other than that, report the issue to the publisher and then wait for an update from them (through the MS app store)

  6. Ok, then the issue is not specific to the apps.

    What browser are you using?

    Please update the Systems Specs in your forum profile with complete information.

    • In the System Manufacturer/Model Number field, manually type Desktop or Laptop adding it to the information already in the field. The specific model number is important - there are often many models of a given series.
      For example, my machine is a HP Pavilion dv6, but there are tens of the dv6 series, so dv6-6c10us is the specific model.

    • Specify Custom Build as the manufacturer if it is not an OEM machine.
    The easiest way to do this is to use the information from a PUBLISHED Speccy report.
    See: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs

    Post the link to the report that Speccy gives you and also open the Speccy link.
    Then click here to view your System Specs on this forum.

    When you have both windows open, put them side-by-side and simply copy the information, field by field, from the Speccy report to your System Specs.

    To see what information other members provide in their System Specs, click on My System Specs in the lower left of any post by any member.
