Windows 10: Hi Microsoft, i have questions regarding my windows licensing?

Hi Microsoft, i have questions regarding my windows licensing?, i got a job, and they offered me a laptop. But i setup the new laptop with my personal mail. And windows license got registered with my personal mail. But i need to setup it with my company mail. What should i do now?

Questions regarding Win10 Digital License and Cloning

Hi Megahertz,

Given the age of the laptop (bought in Dec 2008) I wasn't surprised to see it was MBR (UFEI / GPT isn't even an option in the BIOS)

Okay so an issue.

In BIOS the boot priority is set as follows:

1st Device - External Device
2nd Device - Internal Optical Drive
3rd Device - Internal Hard Disk

I plug the Macrium Rescue USB stick into the pc & re-start

I get the GRUB menu and if I select Windows it boots to my normal desktop not the USB stick and Macrium Reflect as I was expecting.

Any ideas??

Okay ... Issue #2

Boot the pc to windows using old SSD in the laptop.

Launch Macrium Reflect.

Connect the new SSD via a USB caddy.

The new SSD doesn't show up.

Launch EaseUS Partition Manager

The new SSD doesn't show up.

Launch Disk Management

It says that Disk 1 is not Initialised, I click to initialise the disk and get an error - 'The Device is not Ready'

Disk 0 is the internal SSD, Disk 1 is 'Unknown' and 'Not Initialised'





When I right-click Disk 1, and click on Initialise Disk I get the same error message:





I open up an Administrator Command Prompt and type in DISKPART then list disk

DISKPART only shows me one disk:





So, I leave the external SSD plugged in and restart the pc.

I open Disk Management

I get asked about initialising Disk 1, I say yes, get the error message.

Now when I right click Disk 1, the 'Initialise Disk' option is greyed out.

I open up an Administrator Command Prompt and run DISKPART list disk again.

Now I get two disks showing - but despite this I still can't initialise Disk 1 in Disk Management:





Interesting that it says the drive is 'Online' but the size is 0Gb!

Okay - so I take the USB caddy and swap the USB cable over (you never know).

I take it to another pc.

Same thing. Disk Management says it needs initialising then says 'The Device is not Ready"

EaseUS Partition Manager can't see it either.

DISPART shows the disk as 'Online' but size 0Gb as shown in the secnd DISPART screenshot above.

So - is this 'brand new' straight out-of-the-box SSD faulty??

An online Google search suggests this is the most likely explanation.

Question On OEM Windows clean install......

"Flavors" of Windows licenses

Windows can be a little "odd" about license keys. There are at least 4 categories:

• Retail
• OEM
• Volume (electronic download)
• Corporate (no key needed)

For guaranteed success, the license key and media should be in the same category. If you have retail media, you may not be able to install it using an OEM or Volume license key, even though the key is valid for that version of Windows. *Wtf :wtf: Apparently, this is part of Microsoft's anti-piracy scheme (i.e., all customers are guilty until proven innocent).

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
