Discus and support Hiberfil.sys on a Different Drive? in Windows 10 Performance & Maintenance to solve the problem; Is it possible to move hiberfil.sys to a different drive from the system boot drive?     Is it possible to move hiberfil.sys to a different drive from the system boot drive? Is it safe to disable hiberfil.sys?

    Windows Defender Error

    I removed my hiberfil.sys to free up space on my OS Drive.

    I reinstalled hiberfil.sys and the problem stopped.

    I was curious about this happening so I again removed hiberfil.sys and the error message returned again.

    My conclusion is Defender leaves something in the hiberfil.sys file that eliminates error message.

    Perhaps it is the auto start feature of Defender in hiberfil.sys folder that is needed to be kept elsewhere.

    Thanks for all your help, I have gained much insight into the eccentricities of Windows !0.

    It is possible and safe to disable hyberfil.sys. For technical reasons it is not possible to move it from the system drive.
