Your screen shot didn't get attached. Even with it attached, no members will be able to interact with it. Worth having a look.

Certainly has me stumped, no errors, no malware and everything is installed

In this tutorial it outlines turning off and on IE. Maybe this will resolve, maybe not.

Install or Uninstall Internet Explorer in Windows 10

Thanks so much for all your ideas and suggestions.

I actually found the problem this morning, somewhat byaccident. I went to remove anotherprogram I had on my PC and I saw Akamai Netsession Interface in the list of installed programs. I never heard of it before so I did someresearch and could find nothing that said it was valuable or needed.

I went ahead and removed it and all remnants ofit and now my CPU usage for Internet Explorer back to normal.

Interesting. I recall reading something years ago about Akami showing up on systems where Adobe programs have been downloaded from the web (like Adobe Creative Suite). You're right - it's not needed/necessary.

Excellent. If you wouldn't mind marking thread "Solved" others will see your solution.

The statement I made earlier about the problem being solved was hopefulthinking. At that time I wasn't having aproblem with CPU usage by Internet Explorer but the problem returned and it issame level it was previously.

I tried turning it off and then back on as you suggested and that had noeffect.

    Any more ideas?

  6. Well yes. Building on your investigation earlier, how about a clean boot? This will tell you if some third party software is influencing.

Then I'm out of ideas although several post ago I had asked if you would consider removing all addins. Pretty sure you had said you disabled them but not that you had removed them.

Found this on starting IE with no add-ons. Might be worth a shot.

There is the inplace repair / upgrade that will move you to the Creator's Update unless you have bootable media from your current version.

I don't think I would do this unless you are prepared to deal with potential Creator update issues.

Okay, I just tried the information of the link above starting IE with no add-ons. It didn't have any effect and actually CPU usage went up if anything.

I'm already running the Creators Update, it automatically loaded about a month ago. I didn't have this problem after it loaded however so that's not the cause. I'm not having any problems at all with Creators Update, actually things seem to be running a little smoother since I got it.

    What have you run?
Resetting IE made no difference and removing all add-ons also made no difference?
And a clean boot did not resolve the problem?

For security I use Norton Security all the time and have run Malwarebytes regular edition plus the rootkit software from them and everything comes up clean.

Resetting IE and removing all add-ons made no difference made no difference. Also a clean boot did not resolve the problem.

Sometimes running Windows performance recorder WPR may enable you to find one application that is impacting another. Then un-installation of the misbehaving application improves the performance by lowering one or more of the numbers listed in task manager. The challenge will be learning how to interpret the results or finding someone that already has experience that can interpret the results.
