    Hello,Since a few weeks I'm experiencing this occasional issue on my laptop. When I click on Sleep/Shut down in the Power menu or after the sleep timeout, instead of normally going to sleep or shut down, the screen will go black and the fan will start to go high-speed. It gets out of this "agony" state only when the battery runs out or I force a shutdown by holding the power button. I've also tried the Win+Ctrl+Shift+B trick, but that didn't help either.I couldn't find out which program is causing this yet, as I had no apps running in the foreground when the issue occurred, and the backgroun

    FYI, I already follow your suggestion, I let my notebook overnight run without in sleep mode. But msbuild.exe still running and make my CPU high usage.

    While it is normal to see a high CPU usage after the semi-annual full build updates (as described on
    this link), it should typically finish the work within a few hours. However I do see sometimes that the computers are set to go to sleep mode
    and so the work gets interrupted and it has to start again or take longer, so I usually suggest setting your computer to "do not sleep when plugged in" and let it run overnight if needed.

    I have exactly the same issue (high CPU usage) on a brand new HP ProBook 440 G5 (i7-8550U, pre-installed Win 10 Pro).

    I am pretty sure that there is a problem with audio drivers when the computer wakes up from a sleep mode. I first observed that process flow.exe (audio bloatware provided by HP/Conexant) was consuming (after waking up) ~10–15 % CPU. Here's what I did:

    • I have updated Windows to 1709, build 16229.251 and installed all updates --> Nothing has changed.
    • I have updated BIOS to the latest version provided by HP. --> Nothing has changed.
    • I have run Windows troubleshooting and HP Support Assistant checks --> No problems found, nothing has changed
    • I have manually updated Conexant ISST Audio Drivers (via Device Manager -> Update drivers). Windows installed a newer version. -->
      CPU usage by flow.exe has disappeared, but process called System in thread ACPI.sys+0x21cb0 started consuming ~20 % CPU.
    • I have uninstalled all Conexant software&drivers and manually installed generic High Definition Audio Device drivers provided by Microsoft (Driver Date: 21.02.2018). --> ACPI.sys+0x21cb0 still consumes ~20 % CPU.
