    High disk usage after upgrade to TH2.


    I just upgraded to TH2 from Win 10 Pro. I noticed that my disk usage is near 99% for the past 20 mins. It keeps fluctuatiing between 10 to 99. Normally my disk usage stays at 0. May be this might be Windows settling in after the upgrade? There was high disk usage the first time around when i upgraded from Win7.

    I agree with Dave, adding more RAM will not help with a100% disk use. I did see a comment from ONE user that upgrading from 8-12GB did help with random pauses in Office applications (for what ever that knowlege is worth).

    You should try to associated the disk use with specific applicatinsin task manager or Resource Manager.

    HELP! RuntimeBroker.exe is crippling my laptop!

    I actually did that but still had the issue come up which is why I disabled Live tiles as a precaution. The symptoms I have seen are slightly different than everyone else mostly consisting of 100% disk usage but did have very high CPU usage at first before
    I disabled the Show me tips about Windows option. After that it was just high hard disk usage but disabling the tiles has helped a bit at least for now. I am still watching the hard disk and memory usage but so far it is at least stable.

    Edit: It crashed again after 45 minutes, the problem is still occurring no matter what I try

    Edit2: It is now crashing at least once an hour because of the high hard disk usage

    Leave it a few hours and it should calm down.. TH2 is an upgrade to the OS not just a patch (that is why you get the Wondows.old etc) so it is doing all the same things as it did after you upgraded from 7.

    Speaking of the windows.old folder, would it be safe to delete it? I do not think that I would want to go back to a previous build anytime in the future since I already have an ISO file of the same.

    Sure - you can delete it with disk cleanup.

    Make sure all your programs are working first - if the installer found incompatible ones they would be left in Windows.old rather than copied to the new install.
