    System Shared Memory

    Hi,

    I have this issue:

    I installed a new GPU on my PC (GeForce GTX 1050 Ti) and after that my System information has changed so..

    Before:

    Installed Memory (RAM): 16.00 GB

    After:

    Installed Memory (RAM): 16.00 GB (7.95 GB usable)

    Now I have 2 questions:

    • is possible decrease or disable the Shared System Memory? (I can't from bios)
    • in my video card info the Shared System Memory amounts to 4070 MB where are the others 4 GB of my RAM..
      why only 7.95 GB usable an not 12 GB?

    Shared Gpu Memory help

    A couple of pics to illustrate. I have a 1080Ti. Task Manager>Performance shows the breakdown of actual/shared/used. And the NVidia app shows what is running with the shared GPU. It is hardly noticeable, and is handled transparently to the user. Your games will take precedence.

    What is shared GPU Memory and How is total GPU memory calculated Windows 10?

    My task manager GPU screenshot

    My PC specs:

    1. GPU - GTX 1060 - 6GB

    2. Ram - 16 Gigs

    3. CPU - Intel Core i7 8750H

    My task manager says that I have

    1. Dedicated GPU - 6 GB (which is correct)

    2. Shared GPU - 7.9 GB (shared between RAM and GPU, but how ?)

    3. GPU memory - 13.9 GB (I want to know how can I use this whole thing ? if I can that is.)

    So my questions are..

    1. How is shared GPU memory determined ?

    2. Does my RAM and CPU affect the shared GPU memory ?

    3. How can my total GPU memory be used or when does it get used ?
