Windows 10: How can I get BETA Edge Browser to RUN a file rather than display it?

I have a fairly unique home page configuration for my browser.

My home page was created in Excel and saved as an .HTM file. It is basically a page listing many links that I use frequently. When I click a link, the appropriate web page opens. Some of those links point to a batch file that opens multiple tabs. Here is an example of one of these batch files:

start "ARS Technica" "https://arstechnica.com/"
start "Engadget" "https://www.engadget.com/"

In the current Edge browser, when I select the link pointing to the above batch file, I am asked if I want to run the batch file and have a choice to "Run" or "Cancel". If I select "Run" then each of the commands in that batch file will launch a new tab for each of the web sites referenced. In other words, with a single link, I can open multiple frequently visited Web Sites all at once.

In the new Edge BETA that was just released, the behavior is very different. The batch file is simply opened up and displayed within the Edge browser and I see no option to actually run the batch file. It's rather like clicking on a PDF file where it simply gets displayed within the browser.

Is anyone aware of a way to make it actually RUN the batch file rather than display the contents within the browser?

Again, this works in the current released Edge browser as well as in Internet Explorer.

EDGE Browser does not display the ActionScript (FLASH) based UI.

To resolve the issue with your Edge, we suggest to run System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. We recommend to follow the steps

here.

I am replying to the above advice. Been there, done that. In fact, I did that set of steps before I ever asked for help here. Does anyone have any other suggestions? It is very inconvenient to have no taskbar.

I suggest you to follow the steps below on how to Customize News Feed in Microsoft Edge Browser and check if this helps:

• Open Microsoft Edge Browser and click “Customise” (above top sites on the right side).
• Select Top sites and my news feed, select your language and choose your favorite topics.
• After selecting your favorite topics, now click Save. That’s it. Now you can see your favorite news on Microsoft Edge home.
