Windows 10: How can I get my mouse or keyboard to wake it up my laptop the next day?

Hello all, I'm pretty tech-savvy, but I can't figure out what is wrong. it used to work but now it no longer does. So I have an HP Laptop running Windows 11. It is connected to an external monitor & and the laptop lid stays closed. At the end of the day when I am done working I walk away. I have set to go to sleep after a 1hr. The next morning I move my mouse or keyboard have it setup to start back up but nothing ever happens. I always have to open my lid and push the power button again. I do not want to have to do that every morning. I just want to be able to move my mouse or touch a ke

Keyboard and mouse refuses to wake laptop

The keyboard nor mouse will wake this wonderful MSI laptop. In the Power Management for the Keyboard & Mouse, both the "Allow this device to wake the computer" box is checked & yet only the Power Button wakes it up. Any suggestions to relieve this great stress?

 

Using laptop as desktop - can't wake it from sleep with wireless mouse or keyboard.

I've tried to be as clear and concise as possible.

• Have you or have you not installed Avast Free?

I hadn't uninstalled it, only deactivated it; but just now I did uninstall it, then re-booted the laptop, put it to sleep and tried to wake it using the mouse. No luck.

• So the Notebook PC (laptop) "wakes up" now as long as the external devices (i.e., mouse; keyboard; monitor) are not connected to the ASUS device, is that correct?

Mouse and keyboard connected or disconnected doesn't have any effect on what happens:

- Opening the lid wakes the laptop.

- If the lid is already open and I put the laptop to sleep, pressing the power button wakes up the laptop.

- Lid open or closed, if I put the laptop to sleep and try to wake it using the mouse or keyboard, nothing happens.

 

How to stop mouse movement from waking the computer?

Thanks lgentry. I have a Microsoft wired keyboard and a Logitech wireless mouse. Under Device Manager>Keyboards it lists two "HID Keyboard Device"s and the Microsoft keyboard. Unchecking the "Allow this device to wake the computer" for the two HID keyboards fixed the problem as you suggested. Weird that one must prevent "keyboards" from waking the computer to in fact prevent the mouse from waking it.
