Cannot install MSI files in Windows 10

Easiest way is to start the msi file via Windows command line and open the command line 'run as administrator'!

• Click Start.
• 
  In the Start Search box, type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER
  
• 
  Switch in the cmd to the MSI path and install the msi via cmd

I followed your suggestion (after figuring out how to get a command prompt in safe mode). The REG ADD and restart of the msiserver appeared to work correctly, but I continued to get the same message about not finding a valid msi file.

I loaded the HP Support Assistant on my other machine, and after much searching, found the associated msi file, and copied it, to move to the HP laptop. I noticed that the uninstall on the HP machine is looking at a sub-directory of Program Data for the
msi file, while my non-HP machine is looking in C:\Windows\Installer for the file. Both machines are running Windows 10, version 1511, build 10586.104.

I'll try the copied msi file next time I have access to the laptop, unless you have another suggestion.

When I tried to update HP's Support Assistant on my Pavilion, I get a message from Windows Installer that the msi file is unavailable. Yet when I open the Program Data location the file is there with a non-zero size. Attempting to uninstall the program
yields the same result. Relocating the current directory/msi file has the same result. HP offered several suggestions on their forum page, but with no success. Install Fixit routine does not appear to have been updated for Windows 10.

Any suggestions?
