    How can I NOT use OneDrive desktop?


    Hello All


    I was discussing this as part of another thread but wanted to post it as it's own thread so everyone can see the question and because I think it deserves it's own thread..


    My Windows 10 Pro desktop path is pointing to My user OneDrive folder I've uninstalled OneDrive from my machine. Oddly, if I open this desktop folder in file explorer C\users\user\OneDrive\Desktop, I see my desktop items. But if I delete my OneDrive desktop folder, it's showing that it's deleting thousands of items? How can this possibly be?


    I just would like to delete my User\OneDrive\desktop stuff I've already deleted everything from OneDrive Documents and to use my User<Desktop as my computer desktop. If I download something from the web to my desktop, I want it to default to user desktop, not the OneDrive desktop Can I do this somehow?


    I'd really like to rid Windows of any mention of OneDrive anywhere so that everything defaults to my Users\user folder. Is this possible?

    Windows 10 - OneDrive

    Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

    If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

    Hello Francis, How can I NOT use OneDrive desktop? :)

    Doing the steps below to install the latest version of OneDrive may be able to help.

    1. Download and install the latest version of OneDrive that's rolling out with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. After your computer restarts, select the Start button, search for “OneDrive”, and then select the OneDrive desktop app.
    4. When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your personal account, or your work or school account, and then select Sign in.

    OneDrive Desktop

    Did you right click the OneDrive icon in the Taskbar

    Click Settings

    Click AutoSave

    Click in the list box next to desktop then choose 'This PC'
