Windows 10: How can I only backup the operating system

Discus and support How can I only backup the operating system in Windows 10 Backup and Restore to solve the problem; I don't need file backup and it is just too big for my external hard disk- I'd like to keep a previous backup until the new one is successful created....     Programs not working

    In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
    Are you able to follow them?
    In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

    To better assist you, do let us the complete message that you receive.

    Sometimes, this could be due to two operating system installed in your computer. Just to make sure this is not the case, I suggest you to try the steps below:

    1. Press Windows key + R.

    2. Type msconfig and press enter.

    3. Click the "boot" tab and check if there are any other operating system listed.

    4. In addition, change the timeout time to 3 seconds(default)

    How can I only backup the operating system

    when a big update in win 10 or win 10 pro comes, ... i will have choice to backup PC after apply update...?

    Yes you have the choice to take back up your operating system any time after update in Windows 10.

    • Press Windows + X keys and select Control panel.
    • Change the category to Large Icons and Select back up my PC.
    • Select set the backup drive.
    • Follow the on screen steps.
