Windows 10: How can I rename open windows on the taskbar?

I want to change the names of the windows shown in the task bar. For example, I could name each chrome window to whatever I want, or the Word window to something simple like "essay". Does anyone know of a way to do this (change the name of any open window)?

Renaming the Computer...

Hi John,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to rename the computer name as below and check if the issue persists.

Here’s how to rename the computer on Windows 10:

• Click on the Search icon in the taskbar Search icon;
• Search Rename this computer and click on the result;
• Click Change;
• Rename the computer and then click OK to save.

Windows Store

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and then try to download the applications from the Windows store.

1) Open Command Prompt with administrative privileges.

2) Type following commands one by one:

• net stop wuauserv

• cd\windows

• rename SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bck

• net start wuauserv

For Taskbar issue try to follow the below steps and check if it helps.



1) Type and Open Taskbar and start menu properties from the search box.

2) Make sure that you have unchecked the auto hide the taskbar.

Help!, windows taskbar disapeared!!!

Try Ctrl+Esc.

If Recycle Bin is the only icon you can see, open it, from the explorer window navigate to Control Panel and find Taskbar settings there.
