Windows 10: How can I reset "User folders" ( documents, downloads,... etc) to their default arrange and...

I try to change my user folders from C:\Users to D:\user_folder so they appeared in same folder and got all the same name ..

could you help me to reset them as they located when it was a new user without lost my data .

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

How can I switch the default user folder?

Reset Windows 10 - lost Documents, Downloads folders


I am logged into the same account. There is no Windows.Old folder - I think I deleted it, woops. The documents and downloads folders were in the default locations and had never been moved.

If you are definitely supposed to keep the same documents and downloads folders with the same content after a reset, that is good. If I have to reset again I think I would move documents and downloads elsewhere in the tree just for reassurance.
