Windows 10: How can I set my File Explorer background to Grey on Windows 10?

I have searched high and low and haven't found a solution.Is it really only two choices - blindingly Dark and blindingly Light? What if I want something that isn't extreme?For sake of accessibility and UX, can you please give us some control?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Quizo's Qttabbar (free) lets you set different colours in different areas of file explorer - and thus also affects some parts of Control Panel windows (also implemented by file explorer).





No way to do that directly in Windows. You could try high contrast themes.

Make Windows Explorer background dark grey or black

I set my Win 10 settings to dark mode but it only affects part of the interface and Windows explorer is still white. How do I make Windows Explorer dimmer? I know there are external utilities but is there no way built-in?
