Windows 10: How can I stop my computer from restarting without warning.

Dear Microsoft,


So my computer restarted again without any warning prompt message. I was just working one minute and it decided to restart.


What is upsetting about this was, I was trying to take notes on something very important, and I lost the entire work in my browser due to a restart including all my notes. There is no way to recover what is lost so that basically $50 down the drain.


Now some restarts I have noticed have a prompt, I generally like those as they give me 30-minutes to quickly close or save what I am doing or maybe back up the webpage I am on, like in this case. (Heck if I could make the warning timer longer like a 3-hour notice, then it would be even better). However, some updates seem to have no warning, and these are the updates I am struggling with.



Solutions:

I tried everything to force the system not to restart while I work including changing active hours (however active hours cannot be 13 hours long so there presents and another major issue as I work at night)

I tried scheduling a specific restart time each day, but I have never gotten that to work

I am right now going through the list and seeing what updated and uninstalling anything that updated (like Skype for example which opens without a prompt). My hope is what Microsoft supported product is causing the restarts without warning will be uninstalled and thus stop the root problem.

the following steps:

Step 1: Disabling the automatic restart option to view error messages.

Many hardware driver or operating system errors will cause the computer to display a specific error message before stopping the operation or shutting down the computer. However, if the Automatically restart option
is enabled, an error message might not be displayed despite an error taking place. Disable this option to allow the computer to display the error message.
Follow these steps to disable the Automatically restart option:

  In Windows, search for and open View advanced system settings.
  
• 
  Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section.
  
• Remove the check mark next to Automatically restart under System Failure, then click OK.
• Restart the computer.

Step 2: Checking for failed hardware.

Hardware problems can cause the computer to restart unexpectedly.

Thank you john for all of your help i decided to get the usb my computer came with and factory reset it i didnt have anything that personal or valueable so its ok thanks for the help though i appreciate it
