Windows 10: How close can I get to Windows 7 on Windows 10?

I have an old gaming PC that I reluctantly upgraded to Windows 10 before the 1 year deadline. I think I installed 3 or 4 anti-spy programs, I disabled updates, and I use an alternative start button. The only time this PC goes online is for games. I wanted to see what Windows 10 is like in 2020 and it's full of junk. Thankfully I tested this on a fresh install so I'm safe. I just want to get my PC updated while being as close to Windows 7 as possible. I'm trying to remove instead of disable since Windows 10 will turn stuff back on after an update.

This is my hit list.

1 Reapply all my tweaks on boot just in case Windows 10 reverts them.

2 Remove all tracking services. I don't want anything from Microsoft using my Mic, Camera, Location, or anything. I already unplugged the mic from my laptop and I put tape on the camera.

3 Disable swiping gestures.

4 Remove Edge, Feedback, Cortana, and Contact Support.

5 Replace tablet stile settings with old Windows 7 stile.

6 Full admin control. None of this Some settings are managed by your organization or you don't have permission for that.

7 Remove app store. Not just apps but the app store.

8 Remove the Gaming, Phone, Mixed reality, and Cortana icons from settings.

9 Don't update anything. I'll update what I want with Windows Update Mini Tool. If I can chose to only install security updates that would be even better.

10 Anything I'm missing.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

 

Windows 10 Snipping Tool on Windows 7

All it is is one extra step beyond what is native to windows 10. Yes, technically it would be easier to have the functionality of print built in to the Windows 7 version, but you just have to save it ,and right click on it ,and print.

As far as getting the windows 10 version into windows7. I know there was a way to get the old winpaint, so maybe there's a way to get the snipping tool into 10, I don't know.
