Your power screen off setting looks correct but wow, this Samsung monitor is at least 10 yrs old. It may not be OS supported. Did timer work in prev Windows OS's ? What does your Device Manager show for a driver ? (see screenshot example). You can try this one to see if it helps. Install and restart. If it doesn't work, you can roll back to present one. Good Luck.

FWIW, this is from the manual quoted earlier. Could be an issue with the Vid card and Windows.
Maybe the driver mentioned will help. Seems to be a pretty old combo of hardware and software. It may be just not responding to the idle mode command.

This monitor has a built-in power management system
called PowerSaver. This system saves energy
by switching your monitor into a low-power mode wh

time. The monitor automatically returns to normal
operation when you press a key on the keyboard. For
energy conservation, turn your monitor OFF when
it is not needed, or when leaving it unattended for

    Device Manager says:
    "AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series"
It's actually an ATI Radeon HD 5770
I am running AMD Catalyst Control Center
AMD Catalyst Software Suite version 15.20.1062.1004-150803a1-187674C

I'm not sure I need a special driver for the screen, just the graphics card, no?

What about the old-fashioned Screen Saver settings? Go to Settings and type "Screen Saver" into the search box, and it will show you the option to change these. You could have a Blank screen or, if you're feeling particularly retro, the old 'Mystify' screen saver. *Wink
Or you can have Photo Gallery and use your own photos.

    Screen saver is off.

I think let's give up guys. I have got the darned thing rendering a completely black image. And I'm too scared to install another driver (unless you all think it's a no-brainer that will help in other ways). I'm just cross with Microsoft for making it such a mission in Windows10. Let's leave it at that.

If you're happy with the black image screen, no need to bang your head against the wall to make perfect. *Smile

Last comment...just a side note. You are probably already aware, but a BLACK screen is not a BLANK screen. It's still fully powered up. Only IDLE/Low Power/Monitor Sleep mode will give you a true BLANK screen.

    Cheers

HRC; I put up a similar link earlier but took it down because they want you to download a driver scanner first which I'm leery of, so I replaced it with the official Samsung Support page if he has the model number from the back sticker.
