Windows 10: How do I change the default location for windows 10 update files?

I need to change the current location of windows update files from c;\windows\softwaredistribution to a folder on my d: drive as I am running out of space. I have tried some of the methods described in other posts using the mklink /j command. See I stopped the update service and created the necessary folder structures. But... I get a "Access Denied" error message. I do run this process as the administrator.Do I need to stop any additional services ? Or is there another way to do this?Thanks in advance for your help.Chris

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Can I Change My Default Desktop Location??

Hello Lucas,

You may change the default location for the desktop and library folders on Windows 10.

To change the default location of the folders, please follow these steps:

• Click Start, type This PC and press
  Enter.
• Right-click the Desktop folder and select Properties.
• Go to Location tab and click Move.
• Find the new location for the Desktop folder and click
  Select Folder.
• Click OK to finish.

The steps must be done on each of the library folders.

Making HDD as default saving location instead of sdd for files
