Windows 10: How do I change the displayed name of a library in Windows 11?

The displayed name of my documents library and folder in Explorer is "Videos" even though the folder and path names at the system level are correct, as shown in the following screen shots: Under the directory structure in Explorer for my user account, there are two "Videos" folders and no "Documents" folder as shown in this screen shot:The properties of the first "Videos" folder above shows the correct path for documents as shown here:I am pretty sure that this is a registry problem, but I am unable to locate the key that controls the display name of the directory in Explorer. This solution worked, although I am very curious why the process has to be specifically like this:

1. Make a new folder / copy with the desired name.

2. Move all the files to the new folder (Without this step it did not work for some reason, if I just made a new folder and then moved the files using the prompt in the Location tab)

3. Change the location in the Location tab.

Having to move the files yourself seems like it was not intended, I figured just changing the location would make everything work. Regardless, the solution worked, thanks!

I would suggest if Start Menu searching was done by the Library names not the Folder names, and if that's not possible, at least make the location change prompt work!

 

Changing the Log-on/Display name

To change your sign-in screen name on Windows 10, follow the steps below:

• Use the Windows key + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.
• Click Accounts.
• Select Your email and accounts.

• Click on change your account name option; then, change the name and check if it helps.

We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

• Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
• Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
• Reboot your PC.
• Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.
