Windows 10: How do I diagnose a recurring device disconnect sound?

I began getting a Device Disconnect sound at irregular intervals roughly 20-30 seconds apart. Sometimes I get two of them back-to-back. There is no Device Connect sound, only Device Disconnect. Rebooting the PC does not fix the problem. The only way I have been able to stop the sounds is by turning off audio.

This problem MAY have begun when I was typing and accidentally pressed some key combination that possibly included the Windows key. However that may just be a coincidence.

Can you suggest how I can diagnose the problem? Is one of my devices trying to tell me something?

I would like to inform you that this issue you are facing might be due to Sound settings on your computer. So I would suggest you to follow below steps to make changes in Sound Settings and check.

• In search, type Sound and hit Enter.
• From the bottom panel click on Sounds.
• Under Program Events, look for Device Connect, Disconnect and Failed to Connect.
• Choose one option at a time and from the sounds option choose none.

Check if you still come across the sound.

If the connect/disconnect sounds is only happening when playing an specific game, It might be a game app or a driver issue. we suggest that you try to uninstall and reinstall the game and check if the problem persists. Check the steps provided below:

• Open the Start menu.
• Click Settings.
• Click System on the Settings menu.
• Select Apps & features from the left pane. ...
• Select an app you wish to uninstall.
• Click the Uninstall button that appears.

Make sure also that your device software drivers are updated.
