    How do I disable bitlocker? Read description


    I turned a bitlocker on for my usb on an older computer, I have since changed that computer now windows 11, however, this computer does not support bitlocker, I can still access the usb but disabling the bitlocker seems to be softlocked behind the windows 11 pro pay wall, is there anyway I can disable the bitlocker on my usb, thank you."Failed to open the BitLocker control panel tool. Error code: 0x80004005"

  2. How to disable Bitlocker?

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

    1. Press Windows key + X and click on
    Control Panel.

    2. Change View by from Category
    to Large Icons/Small Icons.

    3. Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
    Turn BitLocker Off.

    4. Follow on screen instructions. Click on
    Decrypt the Drive
    when the message appears.

    Change in folder size after enabling Bitlocker

    Hi,

    We understand you concern related to the size of the folder displayed. Try these steps to narrow down the issue:

    1. Disable bitlocker
      and then check the folder size.
    2. We would also suggest you to open the folder and select all files and see the size of the contents.

    Let us know if the size of the contents matches the folder size. If you see a difference, then the folder might be showing incorrect size.
