Windows 10: How do I find my Windows 10 product key?

Hello,

Just upgraded my laptop from Windows 10 Home edition to Windows 10 Pro.
Process went smoothly. Nowhere in the process was I ever shown my new product key.

I have done Google searches but seem to only find products I can download to discover my key. I rather not install a product.
Is there a way to discover what my product key is?

I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

If you buy software in Microsoft Store including Windows it will use a keyless Digital License which can reactivate from the Account if it's listed from purchase there.

If you buy retail software anywhere else including Windows you should have a Product Key on an insert which I would back up so you don't lose it as some software may last a decade or longer.

Retail Office or Windows that's not been preserved that's still installed can be backed up now by running a keyfinder like ProducKey:

If you upgraded from MS Store, you have a digital licence. You can reinstall on same hardware at any time without a key.

 

Natively it's not possible.....as you found out there are some 3rd party software that does that and does it quite well. Belarc is highly recommended. It will show you a lot, very informative piece of software.

 

I know you don't want to use an app, but I can recommend Superfly's "ShowKey Plus" - ShowKeyPlus - Windows 10 Forums

 

This will not help because OP must have been upgraded digitally, as OP never entered a key. It will only return a generic key.

Same goes for showkeyplus.

 

In a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin) run:
slmgr /dlv

If the partial product key shown in the results is 3V66T then your full product key is:
VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T
