Windows 10: How do i fix my pc from freezing when i touch a usb port with my headphone's usb cable?

Recently when i touch the pc's usb port with the headphone's usb cable, my pc will freeze and the mouse and keyboard would shut off. The lights from both would turn off and im stuck with a frozen pc and a unusable mouse and keyboard. WHen i reset it, and i plug my headphone's usb cable to the pc's usb port, there wouldnt be a problem. It doesnt happen all the time but it happens from time to time. I tried looking in eventviewer but all i can see is an error from me restarting my pc.All help would be appreciated.

USB-C headphones work on regular usb port, but no longer work on USB C port.

The USB C port charges my headphones, but will not detect them, even though they were working a little bit ago.

The headphones are detected using a regular USB cable to USB-C.

Here's some steps I've tried to troubleshoot:

Update windows

Uninstall drivers with yellow exclamation point in device manager

Uninstall USB root hub

Restart computer

Not sure how to fix this.

 

Headphones won't work in left USB port

Hi Greg! Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to set up an entire day to do all this.

FYI, headphones work fine in right USB port. If I plug a thumb drive into the left USB port it works fine, but headphones won't work in that port. Does that make and sense to you? My PC is a Lenovo H50-50 SN: R30043UK

 

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
