Windows 10: How do I get windows 10 to remember the last folder I saved to?

When I use a program repeatedly Any Program, for instance a graphics program, I don't want to have to drill down through the folders every single time I save a new photo that I edited. I want to be able to save to the last folder I saved to, the last time I edited a photo.


Why does windows select a random folder every time I try to save another file? If I save files one after another, windows should remember the last directory. Windows XP did this, as did windows 7. Why on earth does windows 10 send me to random folders almost every time I try to save another file? If I want to change directories for one reason or another I will. But I don't want windows to do it for me. Not being able to do this is *hugely* frustrating.


This question was asked before and not answered. Let's try again, and see if we can get an answer to this Hugely annoying problem.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

If you are using Outlook email, let’s try simple steps and check if it helps. Try the below steps provided.

Step 1.

If you want to save only the attached file from the email, try the below step.

• 
  Right click on the attached file and click on Save as.
  
• 
  Now select a folder location where you want to save the attached file.
  

Step 2.

If you want to save the file along with the email try the below steps provided.

• 
  Open the mail you want to save and click on File on the top of the right side.
  
• 
  Click on Save As and select a folder location where you want to save the email.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm opening up an attachment from a google account. When I right click I don't have the 'save as' option also I did not have that option when I checked the 'file' either...

Please advise.
