Windows 10: How do I move my Windows 10 license to a new hard drive?

I've got a 5 year old desktop computer. Back then platter hard drives were what was used. It's given me 5 years of service, but it has become no longer reliable. Therefore, I've decided to replace it with an solid state drive SSD, which arrived yesterday. Now I'm just waiting for a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter, to house the SSD in my PC's hard drive case.


Honestly, I'm not looking forward to reinstalling all of my software that I've accumulated over the years. There's certainly some which I'm not going to reinstall. That's my problem, I won't go into that here. But what I would like to ask about is how to move my Windows 10 Professional license from my old hard drive to the new SSD?

Reuse license to Install Windows 10 on a new hard drive

I'm installing a new hard drive on a PC hard drive that failed, it was upgrade from windows 7 to 10, can I reuse the license? and if so, do I have to install window 7 first then upgrade or just install windows 10? what are the steps to do this, do contact
Microsoft?

can I use the license key from a windows 7 computer that was upgraded to windows 10 on a new hard drive for that same computer. My original hard drive failed.
