Windows updates have started to disable the @ key on my laptop. When this happens I can't log in to ANYTHING. Microsoft advisors have fixed this twice so far (I fully expect it to happen again) but since I damaged the @ key when I tried to see if there was a physical problem with it - before I realised it was an update issue - I would like to reassign another key to perform this function. I can't find out how to do it and the Microsoft advisors I spoke to just wanted to run diagnostics rather than help me out. Typically, Microsoft blaming the customer when they already know that the problem is THEIR fault. I wanted help to try and get 'round the update issue if possible rather than yet more diagnosis. The only thing wrong with my laptop is the fact that Microsoft keep messing it up with updates that haven't been properly checked before being released.

Disable the windows key in Windows 10

Thank you for your reply. I attempted several times to reassign the windows key as you suggested. This would be satisfactory for me if it worked. In the game "Call of Duty Black Ops II" you are not able to reassign the windows key.

When you attempt to do so the game window collapses and reassignment does not occur.

I suppose eventually someone will write a script which will disable the keyboard key. If you could post the procedure for disabling the key in the registry it would be appreciated. I have read the procedure for earlier windows versions but the file selections
in the registry editor are not the same in Windows 10. Seems to me someone at Microsoft could include in an update the option to disable the key.
