Windows 10: How do I remove a Microsoft Account from Windows 10 and opt for Local account instead...

Previously there was an option for 'remove' under Settings > Email and accounts


That option for some reason has disappeared.


I ABSOLUTELY do not want my Microsoft 10 setup to be linked to an email address, I want to ONLY use a local account.


How do I remove the email address Microsoft Account that was set up. I only needed to access the windows store and now want to delete all traces of this email address from Windows 10.

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

Thanks for the response. What I suggest you do is to switch to a local account and then switch back to your Microsoft account.

Here's how:

• Sign in using the Microsoft account.
• Go to Settings.
• Click Accounts.
• Under Your email and accounts, click Sign in with a local account instead.
• Type the password of the Microsoft account and click Next.
• Under Switch to a local account, click Next.
• Click Sign out and finish.

Once you're done switching to a local account, you can now set your new Microsoft account to associate on your Windows 10 computer. Make sure to type in the correct email address you want to associate to your PC. Follow the steps provided above and click
Sign in with a Microsoft account instead to set up your new account.

Help Removing Microsoft Account login

I am not sure if you want to switch to a local account instead of your Microsoft account, or if you want to keep your Microsoft account but login automatically instead of having to type the password.
