Windows 10: How do I remove File Type column in Windows Explorer **GLOBALLY**?

I have gone thru every way of hitting "Apply to all Folders" after carefully removing the Type column. It is utter, useless, wasted space. A relic of Mac marketing, when they used to make fun of Dos/Windows for having...gasp...file extensions!First thing I do on any machine. Show file extensions. Using an entire column to display what is already very visible from icons and file extensions is ridiculous - FOR ME. If you like that, you should be able to toggle it on. But it should not be forced as default all the time, everywhere!Even after you have changed file template to General, removed Type

How do I change what is listed in the Type column in Windows Explorer?

Hi, if you wish to look a little deeper you could use this free program - here I've chosen zip as this shows the text appearing in file explorer's file type column clearly under Description, shown in explorer at the bottom of the screenshot.





You can also see further details of course, such as the associated program.

Whilst the program also lets you change those fields, I wouldn't suggest that here, although that would be 'safer' and easier than using a registry editor- better to try completely uninstalling those programs as suggested above, or succeeding in properly reassociating the relevant file types.

 

File Explorer Columns Win 10 19041

WinSetView can give a bit of an overwhelming initial impression, but the general idea is that you can set the File Explorer view options you want under Global and then click Submit to get those settings applied absolutely everywhere. But you can also fine tune the view settings on a folder type basis, hence the need to show the whole list of folder types. There are also a number of fine tuning options in the Options screen.

However, the feature of having column heading views shown in all views (not just Details) is not currently a WinSetView feature. I didn't even know that was possible. I'm now going to look at adding that feature to WinSetView. Once that's done, I'll post step by step instructions for using the app to set that option.

 

SQL HELP-ORA-04073 column list not valid for this trigger type

Hi,

After trying to create this trigger:

DECLARE
closed_in_jan EXCEPTION;

RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR (-20101,We are closed in January.');



I get this error:

ORA-04073 column list not valid for this trigger type
Cause
A column list was specified for a non-update trigger type.

Action
Remove the column list.


I've tried researching but can't find out what a column list is!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
