Windows 10: How do I set up a turtle beach headset which has the mic separate?

I recently bought the Turtle Beach Recon 50X headset, and it's microphone is separate, which is meant to be plugged into the headset itself, therefore isn't connected to the laptop directly. My laptop, like most, has 2 jacks, one for audio, one for the mic. When I plug the mic into my headset and the headset into the audio jack, how it's supposed to be, the mic doesn't work. I've tested things multiple times, if I plug the microphone by itself into the mic jack, it works, though there's no point of that as obviously that's not how it's meant to be.


So I was wondering, is it even possible for me to make this work?

Ear Force PX24 Turtle Beach Headset mic not detected

Hi, I own an Ear Force PX24 Turtle Beach Headset and the mic doesn't detect on my PC. I've been trying to find solutions and couldn't find anything to fix this.

Turtle Beach headset mic not working in Windows 10

Turtle beach sent me a new mic boom and it now works fine with my Xbox. Not sure how or why the mic boom fixed it l, but it did!

Yes, it is specifically designed for the Xbox one but as I have previously stated they worked fine on my old laptop and in the specification of the headset here XO FOUR Stealth Gaming Headset | Turtle Beach GB It mentions "PC mic connection" so the argument that "they are just for Xbox" is invalid.
However maybe they only work with the xbox controllers jack because as soon as i plug the controller in via usb and the mic into the controller windows recognises an xbox headset with mic and speakers and it works perfectly
