Windows 10: How do I stop a child account downloading exe and installing it in Windows 10 and Edge

As the title says, my son has the ability to download and install an exe from Edge even though his account is set as a child account and has content restrictions enabled.I have seen many similar posts on this topic with many solutions suggesting setting up the Family Saftey, giving the child a suitable Child/Standard account etc. which I have done. Thanks for the suggestion, but I did the following instead.

I have another laptop, 2 weeks old, with Windows 10 Home on it.

On that one, I tried the same steps with the child account, and got the exact same results.

 

how can I prevent child account in windows 10 to download exe file and install from exe file?

I thought child account in windows 10 should not have right to downloand and install program (*.exe). , his child account is under windows 10 family safety. however, my son was able to do it.

what can I do to block it? I don't want him to download any exe file and install it.

I found out home edition doesn't have group policy edit...how to do it then? thanks a lot for your help

Hi,

Please be informed that if you have created a child account (as administrator), your child will be able to download the apps and programs. So I suggest you to check if the child account set is an admin account or a standard account.

To change the account type please follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows + X key.
  
• 
  From the jump menu select Control Panel.
  
• 
  On the Top right click on view by and select
  large icons.
  
• 
  Go to User Accounts.
  
• 
  Click on change your account type (which you prefer/want to make standard).
  
• 
  Select standard and hit Change Account Type.
  
• 
  Follow the on screen instructions.
