Windows 10: How do I turn off the Safe search setting filters in Bing and Microsoft Edge?

Hi,I get told that the safe search content filters are stopping me from viewing certain websites no, not porn.It tells me to log into my MS account and visit the family safety page. As I am not part of a family, I fail to see the need for this.It then tells me to toggle the 'do not view inappropriate websites from ON to OFF, something I would surely do ifthere was a toggle button, but there isn't.It then tells me to click the 3 dots at the side of my name, and guess what... there isn't 3 dots at the side of my name, only a picture of a huge blue teddy bear.It then tells me that I can leave t

Safe Search set to strict in Internet Explorer

I suggest you to follow the steps below on how to change your Bing Safe Search settings:

Go to
http://www.bing.com/

• 
  Click the Gear (Preferences) icon towards the top right side of the page.
  
• 
  In the SafeSearch section, select your desired setting:
  

• 
  Strict – Filter adult text, images and videos from your search results.
  
• 
  Moderate – Filter adult images and videos but not text from your search results.
  
• 
  Off – Don’t filter adult content from your search results.

  Click Save

Reply To Zebal Regarding Safe Search And Search Suggestions

I use Bing as my search engine in both IE11 and Chromium Edge and stay logged into Bing at all times. Obviously, Bing's menu is where I have to go to turn Safe Search OFF, as well as, uncheck Use Search Suggestions. Safe Search is OFF in Start Menu Settings, and both Safe Search and Search Suggestions are set to be off in the registry. I have no idea what else to do to keep both OFF permanently. Logically you would think if you turn Safe Search OFF in Start Settings that would work, but it doesn't … don't know why they even have the option since it doesn't work. With Bing you would think if you turn Safe Search off in the menu and uncheck Search Suggestions, then click Save and Agree, that would take care of it, but it doesn't. Many times I do both, and before I can even open the first web page, Safe Search is back to Moderate again, and Search Suggestions re-checked. Again, I have no idea what else to do. I have discussed this with Microsoft many times and they usually don't answer and change the subject to something else. It's a shame I can't be in control of my own PC!

 

How to remove Bing search

c) Do you get issues with bing search in Windows Edge?

If you wish to set a different search for Windows Edge, here are the steps which might help you to set it as default search engine or home page.

• Open Windows edge.
• Click on More actions (Three dots ...)
• Click on settings.
• Click on view advanced settings.
• Turn on "Show the home button"
• Enter the URL of the website which you want to set as your home page.
• Close the Windows edge and open it again you will be able to get you desired webpage as your home page.

For Internet Explorer, refer to the following steps:

a) Type Internet options into the start search box

b) Press enter

c) Go down to search and select settings,

d) You can change it here.
