  1. How do you disable driver signature enforcement permanently in Windows 10?

I have a laptop that I want to use for music recording, along with a Roland Juno-G synthesizer that supports MIDI over USB. The problem is, the Roland Juno-G is rather old, and Roland doesn't have an official signed driver for Windows 10 (and it sounds like Roland probably won't release an updated driver). I found some instructions to get a Windows 8.1 driver to work on Windows 10. However, I can only install/use the driver if I boot Windows 10 in the mode to disable driver signature enforcement. I'd like to disable driver signature enforcement permanently so I don't have to deal with that all the time. I've followed instructions on this page for permanently disabling driver signature enforcement, including:

    • Using the group policy editor (gpedit.msc) to ignore the signature
    • From an admin command prompt, using bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on (I had to disable UEFI secure boot for that to apply), then rebooting
    • From an admin command prompt, using bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON, then rebooting

However, after rebooting, I still get a yellow ! next to the device in Device Manager, and Windows says it can't verify the driver's digital signature. My laptop has Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 1903 (OS build 18362.836).

Alternately, is there a way to easily add a signature to the driver so Windows 10 will load it?

    Hi Barbara,

To resolve this issue, let's use the command prompt to disable driver signature enforcement permanently on your computer. To disable, follow the steps below:

    • Click the Start button.
    • On the search bar, type Command Prompt and then right-click
      Command Prompt
      in the results.
    • Select Run as Administrator, and then select Yes.
    • On the command prompt, enter bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on and press
      Enter.
    • Restart your computer.

Note: Doing this step will disable driver signature enforcement permanently and will make your computer vulnerable to driver issues.

How to disable driver signature enforcement permenently.

    Hi Ashan,

Driver Signature Enforcement is one of the security features that we make to make sure that only signed drivers can load on your system. Take note that disabling driver signature enforcement will install drivers that weren’t officially signed. To disable
driver signature enforcement permanently, you can follow the steps below:

    • Open an elevated Command Prompt. To do this, press the Windows
key, type Command Prompt, press right click on the
      Command Prompt and select Run
      as administrator.
    • Type or paste the following:

      bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on
    • Restart your computer.

If you want to enable the driver signature enforcement, just follow the steps above and type or paste the following:

    bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks off

Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to get back to us.
