Windows 10: “How do you want to open this file?” I messed up

Hey All,

Hoping that someone has a fix for me.

I was having issues opening a few exe files so followed some online instructions to fix the issue.

CMD>registry editor>updated exe default to “% 1” %”

The last bit should have been * instead of “ and then I reset my computer.

Now when I try to literally open anything it asks “how do you want to open this file” this is also occurring when attempting to open CMD or registry editor.

Does anyone happen to have a fix for this or is a system restore my only option at this point?

opening .dds files with gimp

Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?

 

How to open a .aspx?

I think the biggest problem with this thread is that two knowledgeable parties (whether right or wrong) wanted to show how knowledgeable they are instead of just providing OP a means to open the .aspx file.

That said, OP hasn't done much to help himself, otherwise he would've explained the context of his trying to open said .aspx file and either Ford or Mind would've been able to step in and give the technical details on why or how it would or wouldn't be possible to open the file.

Notepad automatically opening when ABA file downloaded

We suggest that you follow these steps to uncheck the Always open this type of file:

• Right click on an ABA file.
  
• Hover your mouse cursor on Open with and select Choose another app.
• Uncheck the Always open this type of file and click on
  OK.
