How long do I have to wait for AU to be seen by windows update

Manually check for updates few times a week as well as windows itself checking daily on the automatic checks, but nothing for the AU even though I have gotten other updates since then. Still running 10586

  2. How long do I have to wait for Window 10 to be available on my computer?

It has been months since I received notification that window 10 would be available. I have Vista and want to know when 10 will be available for my computer.

Vista is not included in the free upgrade offer. If you want win 10 and your hardware supports it you will have to purchase it.

    It's a phased rollout, I'm afraid.

" Windows Insider program chief Dona Sarkar... admitted that Anniversary Update will be unleashed in waves starting August 2.... “It’s going take some time,” she admitted. “We’ll start with PC and phone, and it’s going to be a global rollout. It’s going to take time. Everyone’s going to freak out wondering ‘Where’s my update,’ ‘Is it time yet,” and ‘It didn’t come.’ So it’s going to take a little while to roll out to everybody."

Download iso, double click on it and run setup.exe.

I have to agree with this 100%.

I have one PC that never gets upgrades although all updates come through fine. I upgraded to 10240 from some earlier insider build last July, the 1511 (November update) was never offered so I did it manually in January. The same PC didn't get an upgrade to 1607 (so again I did it manually).

I've no idea why (although it is licenced through the insider programme and never had an underlying Windows license, I have some VM's which are in the same situation and they upgrade fine).

If you have not got it by now you possibly never will - there are still people here on the original 10240 asking the same question. In any case 1607 is far better build so you should. (IMO)

Do it manually - it is easy. There is clearly some criteria not based on geography but I don't know what it is and MS aren't saying.

In most cases, the reason for not getting upgrades is due to something not quite correct on PC eg a registry issue, a corrupted system file etc.

Using the iso method is just simple, and actually more reliable. I never upgrade using auto method except on Insider versions as you do not get an iso (but can make one from install.esd file and use that if you like).

What Microsoft do say is: "The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is being rolled out to Windows 10 PCs across the world in phases starting with the newer machines first." Now if your machine is not only an older model, but also on the manufacturer's 'unsupported' list then I guess that puts it at the back of the queue. Though that didn't stop mine being approved by 'Get Windows 10' in the first place.

I've never waited for windows update to push the upgrades either. Apart from my (lack of) patience, installing from the ISO means you can restore a system image (you did take one before you started, didn't you?) and start over in case of problems. You won't have to wait for the update to download all over again. You also have the option to do a clean install later, should you choose.

Perhaps this is true (but who knows). The PC that will not update for me is a 2006 Apple MBP Core2Duo (so pretty old and definitely not supported by anyone).

Where did you get this quote (from Microsoft you say) from? "... starting with the newer machines first..."?

You may have found something interesting *Wink

From Brink - in the official MS announcement as quoted here...

Hmmm. I looked at that quote from @Brink (it goes to another page from @Brink regarding upgrades for Mobile not PC).

I'm not saying it isn't true but if people with older machines came later it would be interesting.

He wan't saying it - just quoting some Dona woman off Twitter (who may or may not know the answer to such a specific question, let alone be answering it)

I think that "old machines" come later is unproven at the moment - certainly in my experience.

Your point is interesting though - I'm just not sure how to test it. I would still just give up and upgrade myself *Wink
