I am looking for my product key and to see if CCCOMA_X64FRE_EN-GB_DV9 is compatible with a new mobo that probably uses UEFI and secure boot and GPT...Does the staff know?I have it on a USB stick. And I can access my hotmail account.Or I can download another equal cost version of Windows 10. Which one would that be?

  2. How to change a legacy Boot W10 diskt to use UEFI Boot

    Hi all,

I would like to modernize my well running W10 by changing the boot process to UEFI (Reason: Using NVmE SSDs or GPT sized disk). Because the system has many well configured apps used day by day a clean install would be the least favorable choice.

    So my questions are:

    • Is it possible to patch a fully installed and featured W10 from legacy boot to UEFI boot? And how?
    • If possible: does a patched system needs a new activation (Its a migrated W10 from W7)?
BTW: I have already read lots of post dealing with UEFI. But I didn't find any usable answer yet.

    TIA and best regards.

    UEFI with secure boot disabled

    Hi.
    Reading on the Lenovo site:
How to boot to Legacy device or system configured with Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) or Windows 8 (32-bit) - ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, ThinkStation, IdeaCentre
So my question would be, what have you done to the system, that has disabled Secure Boot?

EDIT: Perhaps you could just go into the BIOS and set it to defaults. But if you have installed a Legacy (MBR) version of W10, or upgraded a version of W7 to W10, you will not be able to boot the OS with Secure Boot turned on.

So Linux is switching to secure boot also? Or they have to because of UEFI?
