Windows 10: How reliable is SeaTools for Windows in determining if hardware is okay? Is there another...

Previous poster here with an issues with a work laptop.


I wanted to find out if my problem is a hardware or device issue and so I used Seatool for Windows and the scan showed no problems with my hardware. I am not tech savy so wanted to ask if this a good way to understand that the problems I am facing is not a hardware issue or is there some other test I need to do (I did a DISM/ Scannow and no issues where listed).


If I can just find a way to figure out exactly if its a device or hardware issue It would go a long way in determining whether this is the end of the line for my laptop or not.

With regard to your query, we suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter to determine if this issue is coming from a hardware. To run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key and search for Troubleshooting.
• Click on Troubleshooting.
• Select View all.
• Click on Hardware and Devices
  and follow the on-screen wizard.
• Once it's done, reboot the PC for the changes to take effect.

Let us know the result.

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to run hardware troubleshooter and let us know if that helps.

Type "Troubleshooting" in the
Windows Search bar and press Enter.

1. Click on "View All" in the top left corner.
2. This will display the list of troubleshooters which are built-in in the computer. You can click on Hardware and Devices from the list and you can run the troubleshooter.

Also I would suggest to check if there are any update pending with regard to drivers and to do so, please follow steps mentioned below.

1. Search for Device Manager in
   Windows search bar.
2. Click on Device Manager.
3. Check if there Yellow Exclamation Point in the list of drivers.

Make sure Windows is up to date.
