Windows 10: How to automatically close a process/program right before shutting down the pc?

So i have Ambilight connected to my PC, controlled by a software called Prismatik. If i turn off the computer without closing that program, the lights will stay on. How can i make a script that will first kill Prismatik before proceeding to shutting down the computer?

I tried with Task Schedular but couldn't figure out how to set a shutdown trigger.

Computer in sleep mode shuts down open programs

When your computer is in hibernate mode, does all your programs have been shut off or closed? May we know what's the specific program that you use? Let's try to reset Power schemes. Please follow the steps below:

• Right on Start button, > select Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• Copy and paste the command below:
  

powercfg -restoredefaultschemes

• When finished, close the command prompt then reboot your PC.

i thanks will try this and i know you told me that but wanted an automatic task that i would not have to do incase i forgot to shut it down and was gone to bed

 

My pc takes for ever to shut down when i restart

Suggest cleaning up your startup list .There may be many services / Apps you can remove on startup which is not needed on boot or during shutdown.
Before you shutdown the Pc check what is running in Task Manager as a program or service in not killing the process on shutdown

Would suggest cleaning up running apps and services -Autoruns, StartupMonitor,HighjackThis,
Malware Scan - Malwarebytes,ADWcleaner, Combofix
